Pediatric Hospitalist MD

Location: Berlin, NH
Great opportunity for a Pediatric Hospitalist MD in the northern area of New Hampshire near the Maine border.

  • Physician shall generally work 7-day consecutive shifts (primarily day, but may include some night shifts) to meet operational needs on a rotating 7 on 7 off schedule.
  • Average of 2-5 new admissions or consults per shift.
  • Average daily census is 15 on MedSurg and  2 in ICU. 90% adults, 10% Pediatric. 85% Medicine, 14% Surgery, 1% Trauma. 25 total beds, 5 ICU beds.
Responsibilities of the Pediatric Hospitalist MD:
  • The primary responsibility of the hospitalist or inpatient physician specialist is to provide general medical and pediatric care to inpatients and selected outpatients (e.g., when consultation is requested by an Emergency Department physician to help determine patients disposition, when consultation is requested in Surgical Services or the Post Anesthesia Care Unit by a surgeon or
  • anesthesia practitioner for an outpatient).
  • Such care includes obtaining a history from patients and examination, diagnosis, treatment, and overall coordination of care of general medical and pediatric patients as assigned

Requirements of the Pediatric Hospitalist MD:

• Board certified in Pediatrics, Family Practice or Internal Medicine is required.
• Active NH or willing to obtain NH medical license in FP, or IM and Peds.
• Successful completion of ACGME-certified residency program in internal medicine or family practice.
• Possess valid DEA or qualify to obtain DEA.
• Minimum of three years of experience as primary care physician, emergency medicine physician,
or hospitalist preferred.
• Prior experience as a hospitalist strongly preferred, including care of medical patients on med/surg unit and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), familiarity with CAH, collaboration with nursing and Care Management staff, and education of and communication with patients/families.
• Ideally looking for a provider who is looking for a place to call home for an extended amount of
time (at least 5 years).

Higher grades have a variety of sports.  Other activities include Karate, quilting, dance, Etc.
